Cuban tastefulness, as well as Afro Cuban rhythms.
I approach
my teaching method from a martial art background with a
major influence of body "drumming" coordination
and mental "timing & coordination" focus exercises.
My specialty is teaching students hand coordination, timing,
syncopation, hand and foot coordination, learning to play
rhythm with one hand and apply syncopated patterns with
the other hand.
Students
WILL learn to play an instrument of their choosing as I
am very patient and intuitive in the way I learn from students,
how to teach them. What students after a basic knowledge
of an instrument as been acquired, it is time to listen
to musical pieces and learn the different ways that percussionists
interject syncopation or hold back and keep time hold down
a rhythm.
Lessons
are in Berkeley California. One hour lesson $40 or $50 1
1/2 hour lesson. I am the author of two soloing technique
books through Mel Bay Publications called Rumba Afro Cuban
Conga Drum Improvisation Volumes 1 & 2.
